J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. was awarded the BLC Newark Bay Crossing via Horizontal Directional Drilling Contract. The Newark Bay Crossing included two 1.25 miles horizontal direction drills (HDD), 120U. under Newark Bay, NJ for the installation of two 36” diameter casings, which accommodate a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) conduit bundle grouted in place. The 6,700U long sections under Newark Bay are currently the longest continuous 345kV cable sections installed by trenchless method in North America
Other highlights included:
- 4 – 50’x 10’x 8’ HDD anchor manholes
- 13,400 U of 36” steel casing
- 54,000 U of 10 HDPE conduit
- 15,000 U of 5” HDPE conduit
- 28,000 U of 3” HDPE conduit
- 21,000 U of 4” HDPE grout tubes
