• J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. was awarded multiple contracts for civil construction and deconstruction services at the Newark Switch Rebuild Project. The project is a new 345 KV GIS Switching Station in downtown Newark that is replacing an existing 60 year old facility. Due to property acquisition delays, the project was constructed in multiple phases yet was still delivered ahead of schedule for the next phase of construction during the COVID pandemic. The final phase of work is the deconstruction of the original switching station building while preserving its basement level as a cable vault and completing the perimeter wall.

  Civil Construction Scope:

  • • 80 Drilled Piers with diameters ranging from 24” to 54”
  • • GIS Building Basement Foundation 80’W x
  • • 275’L by 15’D which included a 1900 CY singlepour
  • • Four 150MVA Transformer and four Reactor foundations & containments
  • • Foundations and containments for four 30 MVA Transformers, three SL&P transformers and an emergency generator
  • • 11 Precast Firewalls
  • • Perimeter Wall foundations and structural steel
  • • 26 KV and 13 KV Distribution Duct Banks and
  • • 6 Manholes
  • • 3 Transmission Manholes
  • • Ground grid
  • • Stormwater Detention vaults and piping
