Insurance Claims Supervisor

Location: Hackensack, NJ

J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. is seeking a multi-line Liability Insurance Claims Supervisor for its Insurance Department based in Hackensack, NJ.  

Under general direction of the Assistant Risk Manager, the Claims Supervisor will handle a pending & coordinate the adjustment of all retained losses in accordance with the company Insurance Program.

Requirements:

 

Skills Required:

  • Time management & organization are extremely critical for this role
  • Ability to multi-task & work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong negotiator
  • Experience with contracts & risk transfer
  • Multi-state jurisdiction is a plus
  • Familiarity with state statutes & case law
  • Litigation experience is required
  • Ability to recognize, address & evaluate coverage issues
  • Writing - ability to prepare correspondence such as denials, demands & status reports

Qualifications Required:

  • HS Diploma
  • Minimum of 10 years of adjusting third party liability claims with a concentration in automobile liability, general liability & property damage liability
  • Prior employment within the insurance industry with a carrier, TPA or broker
  • Workers compensation claim related experience is a bonus, but not required
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as function as part of a team
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, Power Point & typing

 

Responsibilities:

 

Under general direction of the Assistant Risk Manager, the Claims Supervisor will handle a pending & coordinate the adjustment of all retained losses in accordance with the company Insurance Program.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct full liability investigations – secure statements, photographs, contract review/analysis, etc.
  • Evaluates all claims and make appropriate recommendations for resolution
  • Negotiates self-retained claims within personal pending
  • Directs settlements of staff on retained losses
  • Monitor & direct pending claims with insurance carrier & Third-Party Administrator (TPA) & defense counsel to ensure proper handling
  • Ensure carriers are in compliance with policy conditions & TPA is in compliance with pre-negotiated service instructions
  • Review & authorize monthly legal & TPA billings
  • Oversee, direct, mentor & train current staff of two
  • Conduct occasional field visits, as necessary related to an incident
  • Be available and on call to address and respond to emergent situations
  • Coordinate & chair annual claim reviews
