Storm Sewer Pipeline Rehabilitation
Infiltration of the surrounding soils into the storm sewer system, through existing RCP pipe joints, was creating unwanted issues for the Hillsborough County Department of Public Works. They realized that in order to prevent this infiltration the pipeline needed to be repaired or replaced. Funds were limited and Hillsborough County preferred a repair method that was economical and one that would minimize disturbance to the landscape as well as the residents of this Tampa area suburb and nearby West Park.

After researching numerous repair and replace methods along with the associated costs, Hillsborough County decided that the installation of Internal Seals was their most economical and practical solution. Furthermore, the installation was considered a “Trenchless Technology” that would minimize disruption to residents.

In January 2009, J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. (JFC) was selected by Hillsborough County to supply and install their In-Weg® Internal Seal product. During March of 2009, JFC certified and trained installation crews safely installed ~300 In-Weg® Internal Seals into this ~3,000 feet of Storm Sewer, Reinforced Concrete Pipe thereby eliminating the problematic infiltration into the Storm Water system.

The In-Weg® Internal Seal is a circular rubber gasket that is held in place by a series of stainless steel bands. JFC installation crews safely install our seals in accordance with all OSHA regulations for confined space entry and trenching & shoring.
